Google the Dictator

So, Google is making it’s page rank penalty sweep everywhere right now. While many so called pro bloggers get a lower page rank (but I have to admit it was quite nice to see that the famous Chow got his lowered) Google’s own pages get a higher rank. Sure, page rank isn’t really a great tool to measure how amazing a blog is, but since the advertising market has to have something to go on, it affects everyone who makes money with their blog.

It feels like Google think they own the internet or something. It’s quite disturbing actually. They are probably jealous cause they aren’t getting the money we earn. I wonder if my PR will drop. As far as I can see I’m still at a PR5.

Yeah, you look PR5 to me too :).

TBH only like 10% of sites got hit. Chow I can understand but people like Problogger I can’t (they don’t sell text links). I noticed some sites that didn’t get hid had Adsense on them. Coincidence?

You are a PR 5 across datacenters. So you seem to be safe as of now. Google does seem to want bloggers to use Adsense as their primary/only means of income.

The mystery is beginning to unravel. One wonders why Google is not into damage control mode yet.

My blog with sponsored posts went down to PR2 from a PR3. But I also have two PR4 sites that have nothing to do with paid links, etc that went down to PR3.
