I love you Donald Duck

Donald Duck Disney Carl BarksAfter 24 years, I still love the Donald Duck comics. It all started after I was born, my father used to read bedtime stories from the magazine since he wanted to get entertained as well, without reading the Little Red Riding Hood all the time, of course I was too little to really appreciate Donald Duck, but according to my father I was quite pleased and calm when he read them to me.

Donald Fauntleroy Duck (I know, you never hear his middle name) was born in 1934 on either June 9 - when the first movie came out, or on Friday the 13th March, and even though he is so old, he still continues to rock my world. Not literally, but you know what I mean.

Donald Duck Disney Carl BarksMy favorites are the ones created by Carl Barks aka “The Duck Man“, his scripts and drawings beats the rest! Sitting down with some sweets and read a bunch of Carl Barks classics is hard to beat.

Why is Donald Duck so great? That is because even though he keeps on screwing things up, he still keeps on trying! Just like me! :P

When I grew older I started a subscription of the magazine and I had it for several years until the subscription became too expensive. Since then I have been buying the magazines second-hand. So much cheaper! And I don’t have to bother throwing away the toy that always comes with it.

Along with the magazine, there are some other Disney character comics as well. And the one I really don’t like is Mickey Mouse. I have never liked his attitude, he is like a “know-it-all”-er that think he knows the best at all times. Nah, I think he should come down from the big throne of his and get down to earth. Go Donald Duck!

Do you have any favorites among the Disney comics?

I totally agree: Donald is an all time fav of mine as well. I like that he is fiesty, and noisy and silly. Never liked mickey as much: too goody goody.

Can’t say I have any favorite Disney comics. I think most of them are rather you know, for the younger audiences. Growing up more recently, its hard to imagine comics at all. Although, Spiderman isn’t bad. ;)
