I should stop reading and start doing!
I just recently read Tyler Cruz post “Stop Reading… Start Doing!” and it really hit me that I’m just like that. I read far too many RSS feeds when I instead should write posts on my own blogs. Some days I end up just reading other peoples feeds instead of taking care of and maintain what I already have. And the fact that I read about the same thing on several blogs doesn’t make it easier! It is actually a waste of time and it feels horrible.
I usually tidy up my RSS reader once in a month, but I still have far too many. It’s the feeling that I might miss something great if I unsubscribe. Silly. I use Bloglines new beta version where you can view them in a “Quick View”, which means that you only see the titles of the posts, I thought that this would help me, and sure it has, but still, several days can go by without putting any effort on my own blogs! Not to forget, most of the time I have no imagination, not enough to create a blog post myself.
It’s like this is a common modern world problem. In the future we probably have to call the doctor: “Dear Docktor, I read too many RSS feeds, it is interfering with my normal life, what do I do?!“. Please, don’t tell me I’m the only one with this problem! :P

Oh my gosh same here. I joined all these traffic networking sites and madly commented on blogs… but then I realized the smartest thing to do is ACTUALLY blogging. Shocker, eh?

LMAO this is hilarious! Just as I was IMing my friend about my excessive number of RSS feeds, this entry pops up! It must be a sign! :P

Oh I hear you! I have so many blogs in my RSS reader - and most of them are about how to write great blogs… I need to spend more time acting on the advice instead of reading it *lol*

I’m the same way. I use WizzRSS (Firefox Plugin) and at my last count there were over 600 feeds that I’m subscribed to that I go through every other day it seems. Meanwhile, I only update my own site about once a week, depending on my mood.
I think having a blog is a great form of expression, no matter what the topic. I think everyone should update more, if personal life permits of course.

I pretty much just let my RSS reader go. I’m to lazy to bother with it.

I never really got use to using my rss. I mostly click to blogs that I enjoy.

Don’t feel bad. I have a friend who set up a blog with a great title and cool graphics…. and he’s never made a single post!
