I’m leaving Entrecard
I’m leaving Entrecard for the very same reasons as JohnCow and Sir Jorge. The purpose of Entrecard has been lost and it has become a little community for EC elites. Many blogs that have only around 20 RSS subscribers and around 50 unique visitors a day (notice: stats from no one in particular) now has the price of 300-500 credits to advertise on them, which is insane. The owners of these blogs are Entrecard addicts that does nothing more than surfing around dropping cards everywhere.
A few days ago, I created another account for one of my other sites. Within two hours, I got over 45 advertising requests. Even from site that was in the very opposite niche from my own blog. Quite a bit overwhelming.
So, think twice before paying 400 credits to advertise on a non-popular blog in the real blogosphere, it’s only popular within the Entrecard community.
So, until Entrecard change their credit-system, I’m out.

YES YES YES YES!
Once again, I was first to report on how crappy entrecard was getting and stepped off to little fan fair. But Johncow, you, and so many more blogs are following suit.
Man, I love being a visionary, but wish I could get credit for realizing this before everyone else did.

sir jorge: Yes! I actually read your post about it, but I wasn’t so sure until I’ve seen it with my own eyes ;)

I’ve just gone the same way. I know I won’t be “active” within the system (I don’t know how people have the time to do it), and so for now I have removed the widget.
If they can re-mould it more towards the original idea of free advertising (by introducing limitations etc), and stop the increasinly “groupie” trend that is developing there, I’ll re-consider. EC isn’t for everyone!

I’ll be honest, I’m still finding a use for entrecard, I just ignore the overly groupie groups and stick to quality blogs :)

I never even bothered to sign up for them or Blogrush. What a waste of time and space on your sidebar. In reality, you don’t really gain much from neither of them besides a few hits. Big whoop. You can achieve the same results by putting your site on plugboards too.

I’ve been using entrecard for a while and I have never seen any ‘relevant’ traffic, it is all card droppers passing by. Buying ads on new blogs is a way to boost the cost of your own ads, so any new blog on entrecard gets slammed now.
I never understood why any big name blogs used entrecard anyway.

Woot! You read John Cow too? I love the little icon in their sidebar that says “Dropped It”. Hilarious. I think I’ll stick out for a bit longer, as my bookmark system works quite well, so I end up only visiting the 30-40 good blogs with interesting content.
