Monroe-piercing

Written on January 14, 2009 - Filed in Random.

I totally forgot to report about my latest needle experience. Last week I decided to pierce my lip (don’t do this yourself unless you have the experience/knowledge!). A Madonna/Monroe/Mouche piercing. I’ve always wanted to try it out, so I did! (I also had it on my 43things list!)

Late on evening I took out the gear I needed to do it, and it didn’t hurt much even though I pulled the needle through slowly (stupid me). I had it in for a day before I decided to take it out again. When I was eating something the metal plate in the back touched my front teeth (my upper lip is very flexible!), and I didn’t really liked the feeling, besides I think my jewelry would have been too small in the end as well. And if I pierced it higher up it would look stupid.

But I’m happy that I tried, I’ve always wanted a lip piercing, and now I know how it feels. Didn’t loose anything except one piercing-needle and a pair of latex-gloves. Perhaps I will go with a labret or medusa in the future, or non at all. Time will tell!

I didn’t think the jewelry was too small, I actually thought it was a little too big (it still looked good though, so bah for teeth brushing jewelry backs!), but I like small jewelry for body piercings, personal preference I guess.

I still think you’d look good with a lower lip piercing though :P

It actually looks pretty cool! I’ve never seen anyone with one before, but from the way you described the process, it sounds painful!

It looks really cool, but also really painful! Ow!
I don’t think I’d ever get one of those piercings!

I’m getting a monroe piercing also but I guess it’s called a madonna considering it’s on the right. Funny thing is I have a freckle on that side to haha I’m doing a clear stud for when it heal (mom wouldn’t like it) But i think it looks really cute and I’m doing it myself also. Or my friend Shea will I don’t know yet but thanks to this i’ve officially made my decision thanks!

i did have mine done last summer. i loved it at first then got bored of the big jewelery so i got one of the smaller internally threaded labret bars. over time i just got bored of it and took it out. i dont think its possible to have this piercing long term – its just too annoying!
