5 Bad Beauty Purchases

I’m bored and I just cleaned out my makeup stash a bit of bad products. I do realize that I could have returned some of these and get a replacement, but I was too lazy at the time. A few of them I couldn’t return since I bought them in a store and they don’t accept refunds or replacements once they have been opened.

• Depend Eyebrow Pen – Not sure if I got a “Friday car” but this was a disaster. It was dry and even though I followed the instructions, I didn’t get it to work.
• E.l.f. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen – Dry as the desert!
• Isadora Flashy Curl Mascara – Took a few uses, then it became like a gum, then it became dry.
• Max Factor Masterpiece Glide and Define – First of all, the product I got was grey, the marking for black was very similar. The consistency was watery. Glide – yes, define – no.
• E.l.f.  Blushing Bronzing and Blending Brush – Do not buy this one! A total disappointment! It’s not as nice and smooth as it looks on the product image! The bristles are stiff and scratchy. I have however found another use for it – I clean my keyboard with it! It’s excellent for that purpose!

Some of these probably worked wonders on others, but I would absolutely advise that you don’t buy the E.l.f.  Blushing Bronzing and Blending Brush, it totally sucked. Only buy it if you want to clean your keyboard with it! :P

Anyone else that have experienced/discovered bad/disappointing beauty products lately?

… outside today! It feels like it’s the warmest day so far even though the thermometer showed that it was hotter a couple of days ago! So here I am staying inside sitting by the computer. If I had a pool, I would definetly not sit here! And Ludde thinks it’s even hotter so it’s better for us to have siesta at the moment and go out later tonight.

Today was my last day at work for three weeks, which means I have vacation! I’ve bee longing for this day to come for so long since I’m really sick and tired of my work. I’m really looking forward to all the things I’m going to be doing during the weeks!

Just thought I should mention: The Hungry Asian has a nail polish giveaway (there are prices from Eyeko, Color Club and Nailene! – Ends July 14th) right now, I would love to win!

While we are on nail polish, I totally recommend the Corrector Pen from Depend. I’m not that steady when painting my nails so this pen is awesome. You don’t have to tamper with cotton swabs and nail polish removers any more!

Depend Summer 2010

Bought some new nailpolish the other day. Three colors from Depend’s summer collection; 195, 198 and 196. The green one is prettier IRL though.

I was hoping for a matte polish for the summer, but no luck. Instead they have and old color ( it is amazing!)  in the collection, the purple 163. But I will probably buy 201 as well.

Fake nails – Day 8

I couldn’t stand having the fake nails on while I was at work, long nails and a keyboard isn’t something I can get used to. So after 3 days I took them off, by hand. It kind of hurt a bit and the nails looked like crap afterwards but I used a nail file to remove the glue.

When the weekend arrived I glued on the same nails (I was going to Maia’s birthday-dinner), when I got back home I used the Detachable nail remover, also from Depend. It was a horrible experience. Your are supposed yo pour the liquid in a bowl and place the nails in it. The smell was so strong you could easily pass out. And while the nails slowly became soft and vanished (it was like acid!) the smell became even more awful. Even though I did exactly as the instructions say, the glue and the nail goo didn’t come of that easily. With the other hand I just ripped them off, that was much easier and a lot healthier too I believe.

Could they stay on for 10 days? I believe they would! I never felt that any of them were about to fall off or anything. I can recommend them!

Swedish: Jag stod inte ut med att ha långa lösnaglar på jobbet när man sitter och skriver på ett tangentbord hela tiden. Jag kan helt enkelt inte vänja mig vid det. Så efter tre dagar tog jag av dem genom att “slita” av dem, det gjorde en aning ont haha. Naglarna såg väl inte så fina ut efter det men jag filade av limmet med en nagelfil.

När helgen kom limmade jag på dem igen (jag skulle till Maias födelsedags-middag) och när jag kom hem använde jag Lösnagelremovern från Depend. En hemsk upplevelse. Det luktade så starkt att man lätt kunde tuppa av. Det är meningen att man ska hälla upp vätskan i en skål och sedan sätta ner naglarna i den så de fräts bort. När det började fräta blev stanken ännu värre. Det var svårt att få bort gojjan av nedfrätta naglar och lim även om jag gjorde allt enligt instruktionerna. Med den andra handen drog jag bara loss naglarna och filade bort limmet, även om det gjorde en aning ont så tror jag det är ett mycket hälsosammare sätt.

Håller de i 10 dagar? Ja det tror jag absolut! De satt väldigt hårt på mig och jag märkte aldrig att de var på väg att trilla av eller så. Kan verkligen rekommendera dem!

Fake nails – Day 1

I bought a nail set from Depend the other day. I just wanted to have fairly long and colored nails for a while. I can’t get my real ones to look pretty, I can’t have too long either since I sit by the computer all day and it feels funny when typing. I guess it’s something you get used to.

So, I found it hard to glue them on without getting airpockets underneath, yes it’s the first time I use glue for fake nails (only used pre-glued once before). Is there anyone who can get them perfect? A few of them were way too long for me so I cut them and filed them to the right shape. After that I painted them with my favorite color (also from Depend) purple no 163, and the outcome looks really nice, don’t you think? No the question is how long they will last and/or if I can get used to them ;)

Swedish: Köpte ett Depend Nagel set (vita, small square -49kr på Domus) häromdagen. Ville ha långa och färgglada naglar ett tag eftersom mina egna inte blir särskilt bra. Sen kan jag inte ha för långa heller eftersom jag har svårt för att vänja mig vid att skriva på tangentbordet eftersom jag sitter framför datorn dagarna i ända ;)

Tyckte det var en aning svårt att limma på dem utan att få luftfickor undertill, ja det är första gången jag använder lim till naglar (har bara använt förlimmade en gång innan). Kan ens någon få dem perfekta? Några var lite för långa för mig så jag klippte dem och filade sen dem till den rätta formen. Efter det målade jag dem med min favoritfärg (också från Depend) lila nr 163. Resultatet ser väl ganska bra ut eller hur? Nu återstår att se hur länge de håller och om jag kan vänja mig vid dem ;)

Depend’s Fall Collection!

English: This is what I’ve been looking forward to since the summer collection (bigger image here); the nail polish fall collection from the Swedish nailbrand Depend! Since I’m a nail polish junkie I will probably buy 176, 173, 172, 170 and 169! Just like other people, I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t include a matte polish in the collection, since they are quite popular… The new colors will be available in stores in September.

Swedish: Det här är vad jag har sett fram emot sedan sommar kolletionen (större bild här), höstens nagellack kollektion från Depend! Eftersom jag är en nagellacks-junkie kommer jag förmodligen att köpa 176, 173, 172, 170 och 169! Precis som flera andra är jag lite besviken på att de inte har kastat in någon/några matta lack i kolletionen eftersom de är så pass populära för tillfället… De nya färgerna kommer att komma ut i affärerna i September…
