Something that have offended me recently are the child models. The debate has flourished around the net recently, and rightly so! Just like Annas Bazaar, I think the pictures of the French 10-year-old child model Thylane Loubry Blondeau in Vogue Paris (adult-Vouge! not kiddie-Vogue!) is really disgusting and distasteful. And the last picture in this article is really distasteful.
How did Vouge think here? They probably didn’t think at all. Do they really think that this is what fashion-conscious women want to see? Perhaps it was meant to create commotion and discussion?
And Vogue is not the only one. In this years Marc by Marc Jacobs fall campaign is Elle Fanning, only 13 years old. However, I find pictures of her are not as distasteful as the ones of Thylane. And, in Miu Mius fall campaign this year you can see Hailee Steinfeld who is only 14 years old.
Of course, dressing up children as adults are not news. There are beauty contests for children in the U.S. where the girls get dolled up and dressed like adults. Saw a documentary about this once and I just felt nauseous.
The sexualisation of young girls/women are already extreme, and 10-year models will not exactly help.
What do you think?

In Swedish below/På svenska nedan!
I got a few questions regarding my previous post about what gyaru-fashion is. Gyaru is the japanese word for “gal”, you can say it means “trendy girl” and it’s a very girly-glam style fashion trend. They keep up with all the latest trendy clothes, make-up and accessories and they are usually in their teens up to their early twenties.

The name originates from the late 70′s and early 80′s from a brand of jeans called “Gals”. The gyaru subculture is huge in Japan and there are several subcategories. Here are a few subcategories;
- Gyaru kei – gals who generally doesn’t have a tan, this is the general style , I believe this is the most popular one.
- Ganguro – gal with a deep tan.
- Manba – gal with a deeper tan and heavy white makeup and heavily bleached hair.
- Himegyaru – gal who dress like a princess and wear expensive designer clothes.
Like I said there are many variations, some go for the more “quiet” look and some take it to the extreme (these are the ones you usually see if you search for gyaru-images).

I’m not really a fan of the style with deep fake tans, bleached hair and heavy white makeup, just can’t understand it ;). But it’s fun to watch though! I’m more in to the gyaru kei-style, I believe that celebrities like Namie Amuro and Ayumi Hamasaki belongs to this category. The general gyaru style is also the one you can see in fashion magazines like EGG.
Read more at Pop Gyaru, Bakapad and Wikipedia. And if I got it wrong somewhere, let me know! ;)
