The 4 books battle - Battle 3

I have read quite many books since the last battle, but really haven’t had the time to write them down. But I picked 4 books out, those who were in my immediate reach ;)

Hard EightHard Eight by Janet Evanovich

Stephanie Plum picks up a case a little nastier than anything the wisecracking bounty hunter’s seen before. Evelyn Soder and her young daughter have gone on the run, leaving an angry ex-husband who’s planning to collect on a child custody bond that will leave Evelyn’s grandmother homeless.

As of all books in the Stephanie Plum series, this one is awesome as well. However I think the story in this one is a little thin. But I still enjoyed reading it!

Ten Big OnesTen Big Ones by Janet Evanovich

Just happening to be indulging her nachos jones at a local deli when it’s robbed by the notorious Red Devils, Plum is the eye witness who could put the gang leader, known as the Junkman, behind bars… if he just lets her live long enough.

This one was really good. I liked the story and I liked that she finally came in to Ranger’s life a bit more. And it was close that they did something there. Geez, I couldn’t stop reading! I’m in love with Ranger as well!

Oryx and CrakeOryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood

In Oryx and Crake, a science fiction novel that is more Swift than Heinlein, more cautionary tale than “fictional science” (no flying cars here), Margaret Atwood depicts a near-future world that turns from the merely horrible to the horrific, from a fool’s paradise to a bio-wasteland. Snowman (a man once known as Jimmy) sleeps in a tree and just might be the only human left on our devastated planet. He is not entirely alone, however, as he considers himself the shepherd of a group of experimental, human-like creatures called the Children of Crake. As he scavenges and tends to his insect bites, Snowman recalls in flashbacks how the world fell apart.

Read this book people! This book is awesome! You never want it to end! I don’t know what more to say about this one. I’m stunned! Read it! This book is a must have for all book lovers out there! Also check out the book’s website: oryxandcrake.co.uk/.

Is there anyone out there that has read something else with Margaret Atwood that you can recommend?

Burning GirlThe Burning Girl by Mark Billingham

A contract killer is carving his way through North London’s criminal underworld, leaving a bloody X on his victims’ backs and taking Billy Ryan’s gang down one thug at a time.

I managed to get through about 40 pages before I gave up. It goes on and one about one single thing and it was plain boring. Not worth the time.

Winner: Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood wins the battle this time!

That last book reminds me of a Micheal J. Fox movie I saw once.
