The Toilet Award - Mike Arrington from TechCrunch

The Toilet Award - GoogleThis third Toilet Award goes to - Mike Arrington from TechCrunch!

I just read Lisa’s post How Low Can You Go? about how TechCrunch, or Mike Arrington to be specific, thinks that pay per posters are pathetic since they whine over Google’s pagerank slap and that they now loose their earnings. I don’t read TechCrunch for several reasons but I just had to check it out.

It’s really funny that Mike Arrington complain on these bloggers since he is obviously in the very same boat (TechChunch so called lovely sponsors) . It’s seems like little Mike not only pissed of people who do paid posts, but also his own followers when you read the comments. I think lil Mike just wanted to create some annoying buzz to get some more link juice and traffic (good job!). And I also thin he got a secret crush on PayPerPost since he bother so much about them, so much that he even reads every thread in their forum.

Calling people pathetic for wondering how they’re going to pay their bills is really low. Low low. It’s okay not to like paid post, but getting exposure from someone else’s downfall is really low. He is doing the very same himself.

Well congratulations Mike, you got your 15 minutes of fame on this blog and a lovely toilet award!

That’s an award I don’t want to get!

I don’t do Pay Per Post - I hate it. I don’t mind my favorite blog to post a few sponsored things once in a while but some have been going over the top. People, there’s a life without PR and without sponsored reviews!

Can I borrow your concept, the Toilet Award and bring it here? I don’t think there’s such an award here. At least I can keep the Bloggers in line, ;-)

Greetings and lotta loves from Malaysia.

I definitely agree with your post. He (Mike Arrington) could have at least been a little more diplomatic about his disdain for “posties”.

Unfortunately, largely because of the negative stigma perpetuated by people like him, I have avoided getting involved with Pay Per Post up to this point. However, I have recently begun to explore other paid posting companies that do not mandate the placement of obvious links, widgets, or disclosure clauses.

This might help to avoid both the negative stigma and the PageRank worries while still being able to have enough of an income from blogging to at least keep up with necessary expenses.

Sorry that I came onto this thread a wee bit late but loud applause from me!

I was going along nicely earning money for the kids pressies for Xmas then got smacked - to get a $5 opp once or twice a week was maddening. It is still a bloodsport on that site with all the posties on zero - my OH managed to keep his PR (he never had a PPP banner on his site) and he says the opps for the higher PR’s are many but just SIT there for weeks and weeks. Why? because very few people now qualify to take them!!

Surely people like this guy, who have a terminal case of verbal diarrhoea, must realise that we bloggers do this first and foremost for the dollars - not because we are turned on by writing about bad credit deals or house insurance. It’s only fun when it pays!
